This musical extravaganza features a number of instruments including our J. M. Pelton square grand piano (once owned by Colorado Territorial Governor John Evans) and a one-of-a-kind velvet-covered Regal upright piano. You can also hear music from the people behind the music in our Music-Maker Lounge. Square dancing in Golden Gate Canyon or a jam session at the Golden City Brewery are sure to please.
Ongoing, through Dec. 31, 2012
Any person who has been to Golden, Colorado, holds a picture of it in their mind’s eye. To some it’s a brewery next to a cold mountain stream, to others it’s the big “Howdy” arch, and to still others it’s a Wild West town of myth and legend. Golden Full Circle shows a range of Dressel-Martin’s work—from sweeping 360-degree panoramic images to intimate close-ups—emphasizing the timeless nature of the landscape.
Closes March 2, 2012
A community partnership project with Golden History Museums, this display has been designed and implemented by the Golden Fortnightly Club.
The Golden Fortnightly Club is still enriching its members’ lives after 125 years. This local women’s club is one of the oldest in the state. Today, the group primarily shares literature and friendship. Read profiles on five longtime members whose roots run deep in Golden and find out how you can join too. (Sorry guys, this club is for women only.)
March 16, 2012 – Sept. 28, 2012
The Colorado Glass Works fired up their furnaces in 1887 and started making bottles of every description. Learn about this short-lived industry and see a couple of rare glass canes from the Museum’s collection. We’re also pleased to showcase a selection of other early soda, beer, and pharmaceutical bottles from local collectors.
